<p><strong>1. First let&#8217;s assume that you already know</strong> what the page is about and have already created it. This is not a tutorial on how to write web pages. Rather guidelines for search engine optimization using your meta keywords and description tags.</p>
<p><strong>Depending on the type of page</strong> you are creating determines how many keywords you should use. For instance a sales letter is typically 2000 or more words. In that type of page you need to describe all the advantages of your product and why it is the right solution. You&#8217;ll want to get testimonials and place them in appropiate places. You might even want to tell a story relating to how well the product has performed. Not enough time for them to soak up your message. A person reading 3 words a second will take about 2-1/2 minutes. Plenty of time for your message to sink in.</p>
<p><strong>The average reader</strong> can read somewhere around 6 words per second. Which would take them 83 seconds to read your 500 word article. Barely enough time to get your visitors comfortable. At 1000 words the avearge reader will read your page in roughly 3 minutes. At 6 words a second your reader needs around 3 minutes to read a 1000 word article. This plenty of time for the reader to make a decision to click on your most wanted response.</p>
<p><strong>At over 2000 words</strong> the average reader will need 5-1/2 minutes to get through it. This is stretching the limit of time most visitors will spend reading one web page. At 5000 words the average reader takes over 13 minutes to read your page. This is well past the amount of time a visitor will need to decide to click on your most wanted response. If your article is really good most people will read all the way through it. If not they&#8217;re off to the next website in a flash. If you have more than 2000 words you might want to take into account breaking the article into 2 pages.rnrnOkay, back to rule #1 use the right amount of words for a particular type of page. Not too many and not too few.</p>
<p><strong>2. Primary meta keyword</strong> (the first one) must be an exact match with the file name of your page. This lets the search engines match up your keyword with your page and give your page higher relevancy.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: x-small;"><strong>3. Use only 5 keywords in your meta keywords tag</strong>. More than that and the search engines might think you are keyword spamming and won&#8217;t list your page. The search engines rank your keywords in the order that they appear. This makes the first one the primary keyword and the second one a secondary keyword and so on. You should line your keywords up in the order of relevance to the page. Again if your meta description repeats your keywords too often the search engines might think you&#8217;re keyword spamming and not list your page, so do not do it.</p>
<p><strong>5. Meta description</strong> should be between 100 and 200 characters. It is important to get a solid description of your page. Less that 100 characters and the search engine may not find it relevant enough to list. More than 200 characters and the search engines may truncate it. Which looks unprofessional on your part. Truncated meta descriptions may leave searchers with the impression that your content will be too wordy and full of you know what. Too short a description and your visitors may think there is not enough information on your page and move on to the next result. So try to get your description just right, not too long and not too short. <p>Media that allows you to communicate more directly to your audience, like variable-data printing (VDP), allow for the customization of text and imagery in print and electronic media. For example, with variable-data and digital printing, it&#8217;s possible to retrieve an individual&#8217;s area of interest from a database so that the photography and text in a brochure is tailored specifically to their needs. Always consider media channels that allow you to speak to your audience on their terms.</p>
<p><strong>Be Unique</strong></p>
<p>Make sure your visual marketing is as distinct and individual as your organization. What&#8217;s the first thing that comes to mind when you see (or hear) a commercial for an automobile dealership? There seems to be an unwritten rule that they must all be loud and overbearing. You know which spots we&#8217;re talking about: 20 font styles with 20 different colors; flashing, flying and spinning video and graphics; and an extremely loud voiceover. Does the similarity of these commercials help one dealership stand out from the others?</p>
<p>The same holds true for visual communication efforts that use templates, clip art, or overused formats. You deserve a visual presence that is as unique as your organization. Don&#8217;t follow the crowd&#8211;rise above it!</p>
<p><strong>Keep It Clean and Simple</strong></p>
<p>Keep the visual design of your communication uncluttered and approachable. Whether it&#8217;s on your website, a company brochure, or a billboard, less is usually better. This is particularly true for communication that is introductory in nature. Until a prospective customer becomes interested enough to dig deeper and learn more, present your message in an easily digestible format&#8211;most people get overwhelmed when they are presented with too much information. A clean and simple design helps them more easily find what they&#8217;re after.</p>

You might think that you can write a genuinely informative piece and be completely open and honest without your readers ever realizing what you are doing but it is highly unlikely that this is the case.</p>
<p><strong>Sponsorship</strong> - Sponsored advertising is a great way to monetize some blogs. Generally speaking (and there are exceptions), the more specific the topic of a blog, the more likely this will prove to be a viable advertising solution and it may be easier to bag sponsored ads than you think. <p><strong>Blog Networks</strong></p>
<p>The final point we&#8217;re going to cover in this, now extensive, article is whether or not you should join a blog network. A blog network is, unsurprisingly, a network of blogs. The overall aim and the method that connects the blogs differs with each network. Some may be connected by having different subdomains on the same main domain. Others may simply use the same banner. Similarly, some networks are established to bring profit to bloggers and (understandably) to the network owner. Other networks want nothing more than to promote a near state of hippie euphoria over one particular topic.</p>

<p>It seems to have become a habit but we can&#8217;t honestly tell you whether you should definitely join, or definitely not join, a blogging network. They work out for some by providing traffic, improving search rankings, and even helping out with the general blogging process. However, other blogs would fare better on their own, especially the more popular ones. Similarly, some networks are so powerful that they can generate thousands of hits to a blog instantly before you even submit a post, while your blog may carry a smaller network if you have good traffic levels.</p>
<p>The reason that a lot of bloggers do join a network is so that they can network with other bloggers. It provides a sense of belonging and can help develop blogging relationships. If you get invited or accepted into a particularly large network then you should consider trying it because it really can pay dividends but be warned that the large networks have pretty stringent guidelines that you must adhere to in order to be accepted.</p>

<p>Well that&#8217;s not exactly true: some people read every scrap of  information on your site; they just happen to be the  tire-kickers, the people looking for ways to get stuff they  don&#8217;t have to pay for, or they&#8217;re competitors looking for ways  to copy what you do, or worse find something wrong. This is  definitely a dilemma that needs to be addressed.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px;"></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;"><span style="font-size: 14px;"><strong>The Answer Lies In The Questions</strong></span></p>
<p>The answer is obviously not to eliminate all the good stuff  you&#8217;ve worked so hard to create, or to bury it where no one will ever see it. When it comes to Web-content ask yourself:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>1.</strong> Is our content meaningful and relevant, or is it just hype  and bunkum?</p>
<p><strong>2.</strong> Is our content understandable by our audience, or is it so  inarticulate that people just give up, even when they are  desperate to find out what you have to say?</p>
<p><strong>3.</strong> Does our content hold our audience&#8217;s attention? Does it just  explain, or does it engage, excite, and entertain while at the  same time persuade on both a rationale and emotional level?</p>
<p><strong>4.</strong> Is our content so intimidating and technical that it leads to  more confusion and questions than answers?</p>
<p><strong>5.</strong> Is our most important content buried in volumes of extraneous  information or advertising copy, making it difficult to access  and understand?</p></blockquote>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">If any of these questions describe the text-based information on  your website, then perhaps you need to find a way to make that  important information more useful to your clients, not just  search engines spiders.</p>
<p>When it comes to website content there are five things you need  to keep in mind in order to make that content meaningful:  Relevance, Clarity, Effectiveness, Memorability, and  Personality.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14px;"><strong>Relevance: The Appropriateness of The Material</strong></span></p>
<p>The material on your website has to be relevant, it is good for  search engine indexing and it is good for establishing your  expertise and trustworthiness, a quality that is an absolute  necessity in a Web-based business environment, but exactly what  constitutes relevant content?</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;"><span><span style="font-size: 12px;"> In order for content to be relevant it must serve your overall  marketing agenda and at the same time it must be useful to your  target audience.</p>
<p>If your goal is to generate long-term clients by establishing a  relationship with your website visitors then that relationship  has to be symbiotic, that is, it must benefit both you and the  your prospective clients. There are far too many websites around  that are based on the P.T. Barnum principle that everyone is a  sucker and can be conned. At the other end of the spectrum there  are also way too many sites that are nothing more than catalogs,  a kind of, here it is, take it or leave it approach. Then there  are the sites that provide pages and pages of specifications and  features that confuse more than clarify. And finally there are  the websites that are nothing more than business cards or  display ads, an approach that says to the visitor that you are  too cheap, too lazy, or too unimaginative to bother creating an  appropriate marketing website.</p>
<p>The fact that search engines seek out relevant content is merely  a positive by-product of good content, it is not the ultimate  marketing objective, which should be to open up a communication  with your audience and start a productive and profitable  relationship.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14px;"><strong>Clarity: The Ability To Be Understood</strong></span></p>
<p>Is there anything more important than being understood? I assume  you have a website because you want to promote and expand your  business, but if visitors do not understand who you are, what  you do, and why they should pay you to provide them with a  product or service, then exactly what are you doing?</p>
<p>Being understood sounds like a simple thing, but it is not. Ask  yourself, to whom am I trying to communicate? Is it a search  engine robot or a real person? If your main concern is the ever  changing search engine indexing machinery then you risk the  danger of not being completely understood by the people who  visit your website.</p>
<p>There is a certain comfort in dealing with the illusion of  certainty that speaks to the mechanics of search engine  optimization: all you have to do is follow the rules and you&#8217;ll  be successful. The problem is the game is fixed and the rules  keep changing, and more importantly it&#8217;s the wrong audience.  Any order you ever generated was from a real person and if real  people don&#8217;t understand your marketing message, then all that  traffic to your site is wasted.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14px;"><strong>Effectiveness: The Ability to Serve Your Marketing Objectives</strong></span></p>
<p>Being clear and to the point is important but it doesn&#8217;t  necessarily make your site effective. Dragnet&#8217;s Sergeant Friday  may have wanted, &#8216;just the facts, nothing but the facts&#8217; but  in the real world people need more.</p>
<p>People are busy and they do not want to waste their time on  things that have no meaning for them, and that is the key.  Things become meaningful when they engage while they enlighten,  educate while they entertain, and persuade while they present.  People spend hours upon hours on the Web doing things that could  be considered a waste of time and non productive, so the idea  that people will not invest their time on your website is just  plain wrong. If they won&#8217;t spend the time, then they aren&#8217;t  really interested or your presentation stinks.</p>
<p>What makes the Web such a powerful marketing tool is its  multimedia capability, the opportuníty to communicate using  text, images, motion graphics, video, and sound (audio) design.  And of all these delivery options the two most effective  communication techniques are video and sound (audio) design.</p>
